Not Only Leopards Have Spots - Dolomedes tenebrosus - Female
Marion, Smyth County, Virginia, USA

Size: 2.25 inches
This is still the biggest spider I have managed to photo this year. It was hanging out underneath the tarp that covers my riding lawn mower. When I lifted it she didn't even run, just stayed real still, but when I tryed to pick her up she did a suicide leap about a foot out and down to the ground. I think it stunned her cause she was pretty sluggish for a few seconds, long enough for me to pick her up. Then she just climbed around on me and I walked her hand to hand. She posed for the pics like she knew what she was doing, in this shot she was resting on my forearm. She was easily identifyable by her size and patterns.
