Tiny Wittle Wasp

Tiny Wittle Wasp
Marion, Smyth County, Virginia, USA
July 2, 2005
Size: .5 inches
This little wasp was patrolling the underbrush behind my house. This pic was taken the same day as the pics of the little male Lynx Spider I submitted. This wasp was weary, wouldn't let me get to close.

Braconinae -- Paul Marsh det.
Moved from Braconid Wasps.

Braconidae.
My educated guess is that this is a species of braconid wasp. If it was weary, you should have been able to approach it easily. If it was WARY, then you did a great job getting this shot:-) Sorry, the writer/editor in me.

weary or wary???
Yeah, good call, wary is the word, lol. I managed to sneak in to about a foot away for this shot, the closest I managed to get. It would fly if I moved in its direction, I had to approach in slow motion.
