Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Originally considered part of Arctiidae, and subsequently included within several other families; most recently treated as a separate family by Donahue and Brown in 1987. Moved from Noctuoidea to Drepanoidea by van Nieukerken et al. (2011).
Explanation of Names
Doidae from type genus Doa (Neumoegen & Dyar).
Numbers
2 species in 2 genera in North America, with a potential third species awaiting description (See comment here). (1)
Size
wingspan about 30-37 mm, based on three Internet photos
Range
Western Texas and Colorado to Arizona, south through Mexico to Central America.
Food
Larvae feed on plants in the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae) and the spiderwort family (Commelinaceae).
