grasshopper? - Tessellana tessellata - female

grasshopper? - Tessellana tessellata - Female
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
August 15, 2008
Size: 3/4 inch +/-
Except for the antenna and ovipositor, I'd say it's a grasshopper. The longer, wispy antenna and ovipositor make me think it's a katydid. Confused, I seek guidance.

That certainly looks correct to me.
It looks like you've got a very long-winged version of the species. My understanding is that wing length varies a lot in this one.

brown-spotted bush cricket
Aka tessellated shieldback, Tessellana tessellata. It's a European species that was somehow introduced to California.
