Ground Beetle - Carabus sylvosus

Ground Beetle - Carabus sylvosus
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
November 27, 2008
Size: 25mm (1")
I think this is genus Carabus. I also think it might be Carabus nemoralis. I read that it was released on both coasts and is expanding inland. All range maps I could find, including BugGuide, do not show it this far south. However, in looking at it from my non-expert viewpoint it looks like it could be Carabus nemoralis. It has the three rows of elytral punctures on each side, in has the shiny metallic blue elytra and pronotum, the head is without metallic reflection, the body and legs are black, and the size is right. So, it seems to match to me.

Please help with ID.

Your written description is good
but images tell me that you likely have Carabus sylvosus which is already known in OK. C. nemoralis would have been a new state record and it appears uniformly bronze (without blue borders); also has a distinctly wrinkled head unlike the smooth one in yours.

Dang!
Thought I had something here....

Although, BugGuide description says "....upper surface of elytra and pronotum with a faint or marked metalic brassy, copperish, purple or blue reflection" and, to me, this one has a blue reflection.
I do agree though that the head is smooth instead of wrinkled.

I had hoped this would be a new state record but, if it was, the range would have been extended way far south of where it's shown now.
