Alydidae - Alydus eurinus

Alydidae - Alydus eurinus
Sunrise Highway at Hwy. 79, San Diego County, California, USA
October 8, 2008
Size: BL about 12 mm
We think this is a Broad-Headed Bug (Alydidae). The distance between the eyes is very broad, wider than the width of the scutullum. Maybe Alydus sp? We found it eating Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum) roadside.

Yes, Alydidae
Thanks, Eric. Luckily it's a small family and we may be able to track it down.
