katydid - Scudderia texensis - female

katydid - Scudderia texensis - Female
Pinellas County, Florida, USA
December 1, 2008
Size: 1.5 inches
A friend gave me two hoppers she found in a romaine lettuce shipment. Here is one. I'm pretty sure the farm is in Florida. This is some type of katydid I'm sure. She layed an egg as I was photographing her.

looks like S. texensis

Yes.
Female bush katydids, genus Scudderia, cannot be reliably identified to species unless they are found in copula with a male. Nice images, though....
