I keep coming back to this one and
keep coming to the same conclusion. I was wrong. Looking at the head blown up shows the fastigium to be narrow with strong carinae (ridges along the sides), and the black on the hind tibia is more in line with A. simplex. The date is a bit unusual, but they are recorded as adult from April to December, so it's no improbable. Perhaps there are normally multiple broods or off season individuals so far south.

Arphia pecos
Is the best fit I can come up with. The season and the shape of the head seem better matches for A. pecos than for A. simplex. The two are quite similar, with a basically identical pattern on the hind wings. A. simplex is normally adult as spring.
