Perigona pallipennis

Perigona pallipennis
Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
June 12, 2024
Size: 3.0 mm
I'm keying this to Perigona pallipennis. Confirmation would be appreciated.

If I'm correct, it looks like it may be a new state record. UNH collection only has nigriceps, and Bousquet's 2012 catalog does not list NH.

funnel trap, EtOH + α-pinene

Moved
Moved from Ground Beetles.

These are apparently pretty common in lindgren funnel traps. The Carnegie folks have found them in Lindgren samples from some surprising areas.

Sweet!
Thanks Curt. I just picked up another from the same state, different county. It’s in much better shape. I think I’ll deposit it at the UNH Collection. Might take some better photos and post them here just to be sure of my ID first.

Thank you.
Added to the BugGuide's registry of new state records.

Type specimen for Perigona pallipennis
is imaged at https://mczbase.mcz.harvard.edu/guid/MCZ:Ent:5792. I don't have this uncommon species in my study collection, so I can't be entirely sure. Hopefully Curt Harden will offer an opinion because he recently submitted the species page for it. Additional input is desirable before we claim a new state record.
