Pond Skater - Limnoporus dissortis - male

Pond Skater - Limnoporus dissortis - Male
University of Calgary,Calgary, Alberta, Canada
July 6, 2008
Size: 12.5 mm
Another Limnoporus species..this is most likely L. dissortis, the other Limnoporus species in Alberta. Compared to L. notabilis, it is smaller- 12-15 mm long. See reference. The male abdominal apex also looks slightly different- there is also no posteromedial notch but the anterior edge of the segment appears more rounded than that of L. notabilis.
