Bot
This is one of the bot flies. Oestridae. Adults not commonly seen. No mouthparts. They are just breeding egg-laying machines. The six genera all focus on different animal groups. Cattle, horses, sheep, rabbits, rodents, pigs, occasionally humans. I don't have a key to the genera unfortunately but I am guessing this is Gasterophilus, a horse bot. Those are fine shots.

Tam
your photos are incredible!

bot
I am waiting for my Bot to hatch. I found a mouse with the lava coming out. The mouse was going to pass, and i was sad, but my entomology side kicked in and I photographed it The images are a little graphic so I hesitate to post them. I collected the larva and it is pupating now. I hope to have an adult to photo soon!
