Golden backed snipe fly?

Golden backed snipe fly?
Westwego,LA, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
April 8, 2025
is this a golden backed snipe fly? a pest or beneficial? I’m in southeast Louisiana and I found a bunch of these in my shaded rose garden. I see them at all times of the day/evening. it’s maybe 1/2” in length, fast moving flier, and hops from leaf to leaf. It’s bright gold in the sunlight with black or dark brown stripes down its back.

for id, please make sure to crop images down to just the bug

It's a long-legged fly...
...probably in the subfamily Sciapodinae. Most are predators that feed on small invertebrates.
