There appear to be some sort of eggs laid in it on the 1st segment, unfortunately my camera wouldn't focus on them. For now I'm mostly interested in what kind of caterpillar it is.

Looks like...
The head is at the bottom of the image. So, I think that you meant to say "...eggs on the side of the first abdominal segment" or something like that. (correct?)
I don't think that this is a Geometrid. (too many pro-legs)

Oh I see that now! Thank you, do you have any idea what it might be? I thought it looked oddly flat but that was the closest thing I could think of.
