Adult: forewing similar to
Bicolored Sallow (except there are no individuals whose outer half is completely purplish-gray, as in some
bicolorago); hindwing usually evenly shaded with gray except for sharply-defined pale strip along costa; some individuals of
bicolorago and
verberata have virtually identical hindwings -- either mostly gray or entirely gray -- and can't be reliably distinguished by external appearance (see links and info in See Also section below)
Range
Alaska and British Columbia to Nova Scotia (but missing from Ontario), south in the west to Oregon and Colorado
Habitat
deciduous woodlands; adults are nocturnal and come to light and sugar bait
Season
adults fly in late summer and fall
Food
unknown; larva has not been described
