Ventral epigynum - Agelenopsis pennsylvanica - female

Ventral epigynum - Agelenopsis pennsylvanica - Female
Licking County, Ohio, USA
August 31, 2008
Epigynum; ventral aspect. Compare to drawings by Kaston(1) and Seyler(2).

I did not photograph the female habitus, but she was identical to the male in appearance and markings.

In this photo, 24 images combined with Helicon Focus, the epigynum is mounted in alcohol on a depression slide. I tried to clean this out, but much of the sperm plug still remains.

Neo SPlan 5x; NFK 2.5x; transmitted dark field.
