Hummingbird moth? -
Hemaris diffinis
Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia, USA
July 15, 2005
Size: at least three inches
I thought this beelike moth might be a hummingbird moth, but it didn't really match the pic in the Audobon book.

Or maybe
It's
Hermaris diffinis
, the Snowberry Clearwing
(
1
)
? The markings on this specimen, especially on the abdomen look a bit more closer to
diffinis
.
