actually,
this is WITH image stacking - about 11 images stacked with Helicon Focus. The images are all taken at max telephoto (4x) + 2X extender and then through a reversed 50mm F1.4 SLR lens. All that adds up to sub-millimeter DOF in each image, so stacking is just about the only way to buy back any decent DOF - but still not enough to get this weevil's feet AND body in focus :)
