great series all together. Here (Tucson to Madera) they seem to be mostly blue. Last year (2008) I didn't find any at all, but The AZ Nightshade was also very sparse.

 
Mostly the green variety in CenTex...
I believe we mostly have the green variety here in CenTex...

BTW, Jacques (1988) writes that Solanum douglasii is the preferred host in AZ... (1) Mike

 
That one is around among 15 other sp.
but the beetles were always on silver-grey Solanum leaves
