I'm thinking this is Palpada because of the hairy eyes. Am I wrong again? -

Yes and no.... I think it is
Yes and no.... I think it is Palpada, maybe P. mexicana, but the character to distinguish between Palpada and Eristalis is the presence/ absence of hairs on certain sclerites on the side of the thorax, not on the eyes...and it is nothing you can see on these pictures..

Hi, Martin.
Thanks. I have a ton of syrphids that look to be between Eristalis and Palpada.
If you have a chance, would you please comment on this one?

Yep this is the same species.
Yep this is the same species.... Great to have more pics of P. mexicana on the guide.. (they look a bit different, they see to have a bigger head then Eristalis, but this is just experience..)
