JGY10673 - What is it? - Sympetrum
Local Park, Oakland County, Michigan, USA

I have all these reference books, but I just can't figure these little guys out. I should think this would be called some kind of "Amber-wing" but I don't think so. If more pictures are needed on any of my files, I have more - plenty. Again, thanks for all the help.

Libellulid
And probably a female Sympetrum species. Something close. Would have to check local abundances.

Do you have a side view
of this dragonfly among your other photos?

Can you estimate its size?
For dragonflies, "small" is about 1 inch, "medium" is about 2 inches, "large" is 3 inches or more. I'm referring to the length from "tip to tail", i.e. front of head to end of abdomen.

Also, it would be helpful to say something about the habitat you found the dragonfly in. For instance, was it an open field, a pond, a stream, a marsh, etc?
