Yellow-Waisted Beetle on Amorpha Fruticosa - Trypherus

Yellow-Waisted Beetle on Amorpha Fruticosa - Trypherus
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Edge of Crystal Pond, Geary County, Kansas, USA
May 30, 2025
Size: 1/4-3/8"
False Indigo Bush (Amorpha fruticosa) is such a beautiful native shrub--but the gorgeous flowers are not covered with obvious pollinators. The foliage, on the other hand, attracts numerous beetles--who may be responsible for the occasional holes in the leaves. Yesterday, there were little flashes of gold/yellow as diminutive beetles flew into the foliage. There were other beetles there but by ones and twos--these were there in large numbers. However, suddenly, at a moment or two before sunset, these yellow ones suddenly disappeared, all at once.
