Peeling open a ripened tree mushroom early in the morning, I found colorful aggregations of Nitidulids. Three species of Glischrochilus visible in this image: fasciatus, quadrisignatus, and sanguinolentus. The fast-running Carpophilus didn't stay for the group picture.

This looks like a really cool find. When you say peeling open the mushroom what do you mean (so I can look into doing this)?

 
Getting access to its anterior.
Many fungus inhabitants can only be revealed by opening a fruiting body. Depending on the type of fungus, you can break it in half, or peel it as you would peel an orange.
