Possible Misumessus
I have a spider that looks just like this, immature. Can we move this to "possible misumessus" for now?

Possible Misumena vatia
This one really throws me. The abdomenal coloring is screaming Misumessus to me, but the shape of the abdomen is screaming Misumena to me. I think the abdomenal apodemes (dimples) make it one of the two. I'm leaning towards Misumena vatia because morphology probably trumps color, except that I'm going on my morphological observations.

On the other hand, it could be an undescribed species.

Here's similar spider, with Misumessus coloring but a rounded posterior abdomen:

Misumena, Misumenops
we're never sure on this one. We could almost convince ourselves that this is Misumena, just can't see those eye tubercles clearly enough. Oh when will that crab spider expert stop by and clarify all this for us??

I've added
another image--does this help?

And I was
counting on YOU to help me figure out the difference! (Sigh!) But at least I feel a little better knowing that you two have trouble with these too! I read the descriptions and think, "OK, I've GOT it!" Then, when I start looking at the critter, all that knowledge dissolves away! A Buggin' Happy New Year to you!
