Found under my washing machine in the basement
It was not looking well. Picked it up and moved it outside for some water and photos in the sun, the put it in the garden.

I found one of these at my mo
I found one of these at my mom's church in Omaha, NE yesterday. It was gorgeous! It must not have appreciated being bothered because it released a stench that stayed on my hand for awhile after I touched it.

I agree. They have great coloring. I think many bugs can do the stinky defense liquid.

Calosoma willcoxi looks nearly identical. This ID (C. scrutator) is probably correct, but just wanted to suggest caution in assigning IDs.
