reliably distinguished by broad metasternal wing (narrowest width between mesocoxa and edge of metacoxal plate) of 0.35 mm or greater

transcontinental, s. Canada to FL and n.CA(1)(2)

Habitat

occur in open, permanent ponds, often abundant in artificial ponds such as roadside barrow pits and stock ponds where there is rooted vegetation, usually Typha (1)
