Bee -
Melissodes
-
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
September 15, 2008
Size: ~7-8mm
The bee is on one of the fall-blooming snow asters which is what I used to estimate the size.

This is a female of what I suspect is a species of Melissodes. Please wait for confirmation from Dr. Ascher.
