This is the only image I have of one of the characteristics you mentioned for tribe ID. Not sure there is enough detail. I hope this helps.

Hairs
That's a good closeup. I hope I'll be able to turn it into an ID to genus once I get some more references. It shows what I think is the row of hairs that separates two groups of genera.

Are you referring to what looks like might be hairs at the eye margins?

Left side
The hairs are on the scutellum (the pale green structure to the right of the dark brown double trapezoid postnotum at far left).

The eyebrows (not the technical name) are useful to identify some types of midges; I don't know if they will turn out to be interesting here.
