native to the Mediterranean, introduced (and so far restricted) to CA(1)
Food
Larvae feed exclusively on olive fruits; adults take nectar, honeydew, etc.
Life Cycle
In the Mediterranean region, 2-5 generations a year
Remarks
a serious pest in CA; Psyttalia cf. concolor (a hymenopteran parasitoid) introduced in 2008 to control this pest(2)
earliest record in our area: Los Angeles, CA 1998(1)
