subspecies capella
The ones that look red-orange and black, with little whitish coloring, that come from along the east side of the Rockies between New Mexico and Wyoming were given this name. North from Fort Collins they start to look more like ssp. euytion as you move north, and somewhere between there and Casper the red "capella look" seems to disappear altogether.

Moved from Variable Checkerspot.
