Tiny Diving Beetle - Liodessus affinis

Tiny Diving Beetle - Liodessus affinis
Eramosa River, Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
January 13, 2009
Size: 1.5 mm
In detritus. Don't know where to start on this tiny one.

Thanks to you two.
I've moved it to species page since L. affinis is most likely.

some kind of '-dessus'
like, Bi~ affinis, for example

tribe Bidessini for sure
several possible genera...will check the keys later...

Liodessus
Most likely L. affinis, based on range alone; a nearly identical species, L. noviaffinis also occurs in the east but is more widespread down south (the only records for that species in Canada were in Nova Scotia). Other than that, they can only be reliably separated via examination of male genitalia.
