Manatee Springs State Park, Central Florida County, Florida, USA
April 22, 2007
Size: 3-4 mm
Could someone please sex this tick for me? It was feeding on my friend's back!

might be
a female lone star tick? See here.

Lone start
Thanks Lynette. I notice now that only the females have the characteristic white spot [lone start?] in the scutum. See this very good photo of an engorged female, ready to lay her eggs and then die.
