Scorpion In My Living Room - Centruroides vittatus

Scorpion In My Living Room - Centruroides vittatus
Abilene, Taylor County, Texas, USA
January 17, 2009
Size: 1.5"
Found this guy crawling across my living room. Pretty scary even though he's tiny. I'm particularly curious about the little white things sticking off of it on either side. They didn't move with the legs, just sort of floated along.

not an ID
This is a picture from Florida and BugGuide data does not have a record of the same species from Texas BUT..... they look the same to me. If it's not the same species, it's probably the same Genus.

I'd say Centruroides vittatus
I'd say Centruroides vittatus is a closer match. Same genus, but they're known to live in Texas.

This specimen also seems to have the characteristic "triangle".

I'm not an expert on scorpion
I'm not an expert on scorpions, but it resembless Centruroides vittatus - Striped Bark Scorpion.

can you crop and reload your photo?
these guys aren't my area of knowledge, but I think those who do have a good skill in this group might not be able to see your photo with much detail. If you can't crop it, lmk, and I can do it for you.

Pectines
I have no idea how to ID scorpions, but the white things are probably the pectines. They're sense organs located behind the last pair of legs. I believe they're chemoreceptors, are often a key part of identifying species, and males usually have more pectineal teeth than the females. Here's a good pic of an example:

Hopefully someone else can ID it for you though!
