"Thin-vittae" form of E. hatchi
Compared to other BugGuide posts of Ellychnia hatchi, this specimen is interesting in having very narrow pronotal vittae...in accord with the variation in 'pronotal vitta width' illustrated in Figs. 12 & 13 of Plate I of Fender(1970)(1). [Note: That plate's caption info is found on the last page of the paper.]

The first sentence of the description of E. hatchi on pg. 40 of Fender(1970)(1) states:

"Roseate sublateral vittae of pronotum either narrower than black lateral margin and attaining neither basal nor apical margin to much wider than lateral black margin and extending to both apical and basal margins."

(I think Fender's sentence above would have been clearer if he had replaced "either" by "varies from"...that's why I used color to try to clarify how the sentence 'reads' (I initially had a hard time processing it!).

Moved
Moved from Diurnal Fireflies. I'm relying on your ID. Fender's species descriptions mention sternites among diagnostic features. Are you able to add pictures of the bottom of the beetle?
