Cucujid - Pediacus depressus

Cucujid - Pediacus depressus
Renak-Polak Woods SNA, Racine County, Wisconsin, USA
June 23, 2000
Size: 4mm
Collected in flight-intercept trap (8-23 June 2000) in hardwood forest.

All pics taken with automontage system. Actual montaging done with CombineZP.

I would like confirmation that this is P. subglaber. Wisconsin is not listed for this species in Dr. Thomas's revision of the genus.

Moved from Pediacus.

I'd REALLY like
to examine that specimen. It looks closer to the European P. depressus than to the Appalachian P. subglaber.

After examining
the specimen, I conclude that this is Pediacus depressus (Herbst), a European species. In side by side comparisons with specimens of P. subglaber the eyes are much larger in P. depressus. A male would be nice to nail it down but I have little doubt that this is the European species.
