Andrena male
very likely one of the following Arctostaphylos specialists:

Andrena (Derandrena) arctostaphylae Ribble, 1968
Andrena (Derandrena) vandykei Cockerell, 1936

Andrena (Erandrena) principalis LaBerge, 1986

Very few other Andrena species are active in January in central California.
