Small insect - Ectobius pallidus

Small insect - Ectobius pallidus
Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
August 11, 2008
Size: 1 cm
This little insect was found in my backyard. I see them all the time, sometimes on milkweed plants. They kinda look like cockroaches, but I've never seen them larger or smaller than this size, around 1 cm. They scurry around very fast, and it's very difficult to photograph them. Not a beetle. No hard wing case. Cockroach-like face. Also, I've never seen a cockroach in my neighborhood.

Moved
Moved from Ectobius.

Not an expert but...
My first thought was some type of cockroach so...

Try one of the Wood Cockroaches (Parcoblatta)

But please wait for an expert to comment :)

-EDIT-

I see i was a little late...

Roach
Most likely Ectobius(1). They are common in the Boston area, maybe up your way too. I think they're cute. As far as I know they stay outdoors.

Agreed.
I concur with a species of Ectobius.
