My comment: so you have two diff. spp. from your backyard on two almost identical photos??? end of comment.

not even just the same backyard...
from the same pile of leaves on the side of the house. Most of my shots of barklice and springtails comes from an area about 10 feet by 20 feet where a particular deciduous tree drops most of its leaves. :)
