large Dytiscus, ventral view - Cybister fimbriolatus

large Dytiscus, ventral view - Cybister fimbriolatus
NorthPointe Commons, Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
September 10, 2004
Heard somewhere that the underside is often key to identifying diving beetles, so took this shot. Appears to show the black underside indicative of Dytiscus verticalis, in addition to the pronotum being dark on the front and rear edges (see dorsal view).
