E. arbustorum or E. brousii??? - Eristalis arbustorum - Male
Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada
July 15, 2008
Hello,

Here is a syrphidae I photographied in July 2008 at Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada (near Vermont, USA).

This male is whether an Eristalis arbustorum or whether an Eristalis brousii...

Any idea???

Thanks again!

Michel

Moved
Moved from Syrphid Flies.

It's E. arbustorum
The spots in brousii look different, the amount of yellow on the abdomen (especially tergite 2) is bigger than in arbustorum.
The clear differences on the mid leg between arbustorum and brousii are unfortunately not very visible on your pictures.
Greetings

Thank you very much Gerard :-)

It is very appreciated! I'll remember the difference between both...

Cheers!
