Nice looking butterfly I took in our front yard last October in the afternoon. Would like to know what kind it is.

fritillary?
To me this looks like
Agraulis vanillae
, the Gulf Fritillary, but I'm more of a moth person than a butterfly person so I can't say this with complete certainty.
