Jumping Spider 25 - Phidippus purpuratus

Jumping Spider 25 - Phidippus purpuratus
Jim Thorpe, PA 18229, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 24, 2005
Size: 1/2 inch +
can you give me the species on this one?

This is a difficult
ID. According to the Phidippus revision, only males in FL have red scales. Then again, how many undescribed species variations are already posted in the Phidippus species images on the guide...
Borealis is found in NY, so it is possible they occur in PA.

One hting I just thought of
I found this guy on a RR track-is it possible he Jumped off of a train? They go through there all the time.

Jo

Phid
Appears to be a male Phidippus purpuratus.

Confirm purpuratus
Jeff Hollenbeck agrees this is P. purpuratus
