Campylomma verbasci

Campylomma verbasci
Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, USA
June 16, 2002
Size: 3mm

ID confirmed by M.D. Schwartz: Campylomma verbasci

Just a curiosity...
Is the color of this species usually like this in your area? Or, is this specimen a darker one?

This specimen
may appear darker because it is being shot against a white background using special lights. I normally don't look at them through microscopes, and in the field they do appear lighter.

Thank you!
And, if you have another chance to take photos of this species, please do it under natural light such as sunlight and upload the photos here again. Since there is no photo other than yours here, more pictures showing its natural color are required. ^^

Cheers!

Are you sure enough for me to
make a guide page?

Yes
This is a fairly common denizen of pear orchards in Wenatchee.

They usually seem to be just green.
Like WonGun Kim, I can't find any image of one as colorful as yours

I am using
full-spectrum lights in a controlled environment. I don't have a voucher specimen; I used the identification authority of entomologists at Washington State University Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center. This is not a rare insect and has been the focus of several studies. See ME Reding, EH Beers, JF Brunner, JE Dunley (2001). This individual was captured from one of those study sites.

Nice capture!
It seems more dark and reddish than expected.
