Winter Stonefly - Taeniopteryx burksi

Winter Stonefly - Taeniopteryx burksi
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
March 8, 2009
Size: 12mm
Found emerging from the Squanacook River.

Moved
Looks like I missed the S. fasciata. I'll keep an eye out for that yellow patch on the head on the next ones I find.

Taeniopteryx burksi
Two of these, plus one Strophop*teryx fasciata. Casually looks just like Taeniopteryx, but is a bit bigger and there is a narrow yellow patch on the top of the head between the compound eyes and the lateral ocelli, which are fairly close to the compound eyes. T. burksi has the head all dark.
