Life Cycle postings

I would love to see more Life Cycle series posted like this:

If every member raised just one bug this summer.....

BTW, the contributor of this photo mentioned a link to a great Life Cycle site at:

http://www.buglifecycle.com/

a clerid life cycle
https://bugguide.net/node/view/1765384

Asphondylia neomexicana (Cecidomyiidae)
Three of an unknown (by me) number of larval instars, and the pupa and adult of this gall midge species are linked here:

Nondescript Dagger Moth - Acronicta spinigera

different individuals?
Is there a way to post life cycle sets that are not all a single individual? Maybe bugguide needs a special category for life cycles. Of course, I do understand that mistakes could be made by including images that are not the same species.

Hatchlings, etc.
When I've found a clutch of eggs and reared the whole bunch together, the photos were of different individuals, as in this series:

Is that the situation you mean?

Beautiful
That's a great series.

But I meant several images of instars that are taken at different times in the wild.

Of course, one could link them with the thumb bbcode procedure, though that's a bit tedious.

Use the text
You can link them in the text or comments. Here is one example. A lot of work but worth it.

Some partial life cycles
Sophonia orientalis, Cicadellidae. Last-instar nymph, adult.

Leucopis sp., Chamaemyiidae. Last-instar larva, puparium, adult.

Spanagonicus albofasciatus, Miridae. Last-instar nymph, adult.

Graphocephala sp., Cicadellidae. next-to-last-instar nymph, adult.

Protalebrella tertia, Cicadellidae. Last-instar nymph, adult.

A few more
Chrysopidae: Chrysoperla rufalibris. Egg, 1st instar larva, 2nd instar larva, 3rd instar larva, cocoon, adult.

Hemerobiidae: Micromus posticus. 2nd instar larva, 3rd instar larva, cocoon, pupa, adult.

Delphacidae: Pissonotus albovenosus. 4th instar nymph, 5th instar nymph, adult.

Aphelinidae: Encarsia sp. Pupa (in host), adult.

Acrobasis

We already have a life cycle series linked to on the genus info page but I thought I'd share this one, which has some additional views.

Antennophorus sp.
larva, protonymph, deutonymph, adult:

Leafcutter bee
. . .

Second bee
A second bee emerged from pupation. The series now includes behavioral shots.

The species has been identified: Megachile perihirta.

Life cycles
Ocyptamus fuscipennis: last-instar larva, pupa and adult
Diomus terminatus: last-instar larva, pupa and adult
Acoloithus falsarius: last-instar larva, cocoon and adult
Calycomyza lantanae: leaf mine, last-instar larva, puparium and adult
Platynota sp. on Asclepias curassavica: larva, pupa and adult

O. fuscipennis
A new series, abridged but including an earlier instar

Pityococcus rugulosus

Lifecycle series starts here.

Thanks
I added them to the info pages.

Matsucoccus acalyptus (Pinyon Needle Scale)

Sorry for the delay,
but just wanted to comment that this information is excellent. I've added links to your photos and details to the Info page for Pinyon Needle Scale.

Gray hairstreak
From larva to adult.

Thanks!
I added some of your photos to the Life Cycle section of the info page.

LIfe cycle site - BuglifeCycles.com
I'm going to start to add the life cycles from my site - Buglifecycles.com, to BG. There will be links to them from the "info" page for the insect, in a section titled "Life Cycle". It will take a while - I think there are about 700 life cycles - but I'll get there eventually!

Melanolophia partial life cycle
This could use a specific ID:

Umber Skipper from egg to adult

Two partial life cycles of Neogalea sunia
One individual was found as first-instar larva and reared to adult.
Another individual was found as egg and reared to last-instar larva.

Sarcophagidae - larva, pupa, adult

Ogdoconta cinereola

Another one
I may have a few more soon.

Two tortoise beetle species - larva, pupa, adult
Deloyala guttata
Chelymorpha sp.

life cycle of Geina
- Life cycle is posted, however the moth is waiting for a final ID.

Thyanta calceata

Nice series of a small-eyed sphinx

Datana ministra
There is a nice series of photos of the successive larval instars of the notodontid moth, Datana ministra (feeding on beech in Ohio), here.

Thank you
for the compliment, Terry.

A few more...
Neolema cordata here; Rhopalomyia grossulariae here; Recurvaria consimilis here; Acrolepiopsis spp. here and here; Zelleria celastrusella here; Microrhopala vittata here. Also many life histories depicted at microleps.org.

Terry - I don't see to have your email address....
and I have a question for you. I'm starting to move the links to insect life cycles from my BugLifeCycles page, to Bugguide. May I do that with yours? I'll put a "Life Cycle" section on the info page for the species, and then put a link to the life cycle. Eventually I hope to stop using my page, and have all that info on BugGuide.

Another Pero series is complete
It starts here:

A few old posts
Here are a few old posts of mine, in case any of them are of interest!

... Eupithecia sp. - larva, pupa, and adult
... Andricus quercuslanigera - larva and adult
... Pachypsylla venusta - adult and the gall it emerged from

Coleophora cornella life cycle

A mite
This one sort of started with a moth but sadly I didn't get any shots of the mite attached (like here) Oh, well :-) This is the mite's story so far. I might try to raise it to an adult, but I'm not sure. I don't have a confirmed ID, yet.

Acrolepiopsis heppneri
Waiting for confirmation -- life cycle posted for

I'm working on it!
Check it out here!

Nice life cycle!
Could I add you as a contributor to buglifecycles.com? Check it out and see what you think - I'd love to include links to your life cycles - it looks like you have quite a few. If you're interested, write me an email and we can figure it out.

Sure!
I have been raising a TON of caterpillars this year. I'm sure we can figure something out. Some of the life cycles aren't finished yet. However, I think I will be able to finish them soon. BTW, I added pics of a Walnut sphinx molting. They aren't the best of pics, however.

great!
If you go to my bio page on BG you can find my email address, or write a comment on buglifecycles and I'll write back to you. I'd like to put a short bio of you on my contributors' page, and then I'll start putting up links to your life cycles. I'm so glad you want to do this - I like how well documented your life cycles are!

Email help
In your email adress, do I remove the NO SPAM and replace the 'at' with @?

yep...
....

Dates
Please fix the dates. The life series is much more valuable if you have correct dates. You may want to add other info in the comments.

Ok!
Done! Fixed them up.
