I'll have to see if Peter M. wants these carabids again this year.

Agonum
near melanoph*thalmum. One of the chunkier members of the genus, while gratio*sum is a member of the slender part of the genus. The preceding photo is not of a Platy*nus - I think maybe Agon*um but it could possibly be something else.

"Agonum melanarium"
I think is what you intended Donald -- a good bet based on prominent pronotal hind angles shown here. What's the advantage of inserting asterisks inside taxa?

Tom, feel free to mail me carabids that you think might be different from your 2008 material or at least species underrepresented at BugGuide. Do you have access to stereo-microscope to make such judgements?

The
asterisks allow for putting forth names that will not be picked up by search engines or individuals - great for misspellings. And indeed, melan*arium was what I meant.

Peter,
So far I don't think I found anything different, but I'm sure I'll come across a few new ones this season.
I don't have a microscope, and probably wouldn't feel comfortable trying to figure out what's what.
