State insect image request.

We have had a few submissins and thought that I should refresh the want list. If you can help with any of these it would be appreciated. I have a huge Nature site covering most of the topics in Nature . One of the topics we are trying to complete are the State insect images. There are a few missing, they don't have to be large resolutions 300 = is great. If anyone would like to send an image of the following, a credit line will be included. The page can be viewed here. State insects.

Four spot skimmer dragonfly. Libellula quadrimaculata
California dogface Butterfly, Colias eurydice Boisduval
Colorado hairstreak Butterfly, Hypaurotis crysalus
Baltimore checker spot Butterfly, Euphydryas phaeton
Two spotted ladybug, Adalia bipunctata
Tarantula Hawk wasp, Pepsis formosa
Lady bug, Coccinella novemnotata
Oregon Swallowtail butterfly, Papilio oregonius
Firefly. Photuris pennsylvanica
Green darner dragonfly, Anax junius

state ladybugs
I know I'm being hyper-picky, but my home state, Delaware, adopted the ladybug as its state insect in 1974, before the multicolored Asian lady beetle was introduced to the state in 1978. Could the photo on your State Insect page possibly be changed to a native North American species?

We will do what you suggested
We will do what you suggested. We have received a few of the insects listed, I have updated our requirements and this is new list. Thank you for your correction.

Coccinella novemnotata is the Nine-Spotted Lady Beetle. It's become very rare, and there aren't many recent photos. Cornell University's Lost Ladybug Project is dedicated to it.

Up date on my request. Have had another one sent off the list so the list is a little shorter. It is now down to these last few. Can anyone else help?

I found a really nice image on the Guide, but you'll have to contact the contributor about using it:

Rove Beetle images
A procedural question please. I have found two large Rove Beetles
this month, neither of which are shown on their respective data pages as being imaged in Florida, in March. One is a 19.26mm male "Creophilus maxillosus" and the other is a 22.68mm male "Platydracus maculosus". As you already have photo's of these species and they don't seem to need an ID (Based on comparative photos in BGN and descriptions in Arnett's American Beetles) where would I post them, assuming of course that you would want them in the system?

Did you intend to post your question as a New Forum?
Not everyone will be reading your post in this State Insect forum.

Call it something like- Should I post my Rove Beetle photos?

Have altered the want list due to having a few images submitted. If you can help with the others it would be appreciated, thanks.

Colorado
I'll have to search for the Colorado Hairstreak this summer. I've not seen one, and would love to find one anyway.

Butterfly
I hope you have some success in your search.

Thank you John for the 2 swal
Thank you John for the 2 swallowtail images.

Photuris
I have a few Photuris images you can use if you want. They have not been IDed beyond Photuris, but as far as I know either may be Photuris pennsylvanica, and even if they are not, they may be (barely) good enough as placeholders until you get the necessary image.

Thank you John for the image,
Thank you John for the image, we will add it to the page when my son gets back from Palm Springs (Sunday) Should be in on Mon. or Tues. Thanks again.

If you don't get many responses here...
...you might do a search on each of the species you've listed above...pick your favorite photo....and send an e-mail message to the photographer stating your interest in using their photo.

State insects
Thats a good idea, but I don't like bothering people, I may try it though. Thank you for suggesting it and showing some interest.

Thank you Ron for the Viceroy
Thank you Ron for the Viceroy butterfly. A great help.

Your welcome.
Let me know if you have problems finding the Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes).
I have one but it isn't the best specimen.

Can't believe I did that---
I know it should have been "You're welcome"...

And it is too late to edit it.

State butterflies
We will be using the image Ron as I think we have a few of the State butterflies to go ahead with that page. We have had a few sent to us and have had some nice replies to our requests to Butterfly groups. The firefly is in so thank you for that image again.

Hi Ron. Thank you for the swallowtail. We don't know if we will use a butterfly as we noticed that the Honey bee is the state insect. We could use it in the future if we add the State butterflies to the page. We like to show submissions, thanks again for your help.
