State insect image request.

state ladybugs

I know I'm being hyper-picky, but my home state, Delaware, adopted the ladybug as its state insect in 1974, before the multicolored Asian lady beetle was introduced to the state in 1978. Could the photo on your State Insect page possibly be changed to a native North American species?

New York lady bug - common name

Coccinella novemnotata is the Nine-Spotted Lady Beetle. It's become very rare, and there aren't many recent photos. Cornell University's Lost Ladybug Project is dedicated to it.

Rove Beetle images

A procedural question please. I have found two large Rove Beetles
this month, neither of which are shown on their respective data pages as being imaged in Florida, in March. One is a 19.26mm male "Creophilus maxillosus" and the other is a 22.68mm male "Platydracus maculosus". As you already have photo's of these species and they don't seem to need an ID (Based on comparative photos in BGN and descriptions in Arnett's American Beetles) where would I post them, assuming of course that you would want them in the system?

Photuris

I have a few Photuris images you can use if you want. They have not been IDed beyond Photuris, but as far as I know either may be Photuris pennsylvanica, and even if they are not, they may be (barely) good enough as placeholders until you get the necessary image.

...you might do a search on each of the species you've listed above...pick your favorite photo....and send an e-mail message to the photographer stating your interest in using their photo.

State butterflies

We will be using the image Ron as I think we have a few of the State butterflies to go ahead with that page. We have had a few sent to us and have had some nice replies to our requests to Butterfly groups. The firefly is in so thank you for that image again.

Hi Ron. Thank you for the swallowtail. We don't know if we will use a butterfly as we noticed that the Honey bee is the state insect. We could use it in the future if we add the State butterflies to the page. We like to show submissions, thanks again for your help.
