ID Info?
How was this and your other submission here identified? I see you submitted a larva from the same area. Was this reared or dissected? I've been bumping all images of adults placed in H. tessellaris, which are within the range of H. harrisii, up to the genus level. Your submissions are very close to the edge of that range.

Moving to genus is fine.
I did not rear the larva.
The larva and adults were identified based only on location of Sycamores. Sycamores are frequent to common in the southern 1/2 of Iowa and rare in the Paleozoic Plateau. Ames is almost the mid-line of Iowa, and the adult was photographed at night in an oak, hickory, maple, basswood woods. The other adult was photographed adjacent to an oak, walnut, maple woods in Winneshiek County which is in the Paleozoic Plateau
