Size: about 8 mm
Found several of these on new green shrubs growing around lake. Unsure what they are, any help with ID would be appreciated.

i'm on, but not too dead: FL checklist http://www.fsca-dpi.org/Coleoptera/Mike/scarab.htm mentions no H. trivialis

 
Correct ID
Not uncommon in the spring in GA & SC. There are several species one would think should also occur in Florida, but haven't been see yet, e.g. Popilia japonica - now thats odd. A real pest in SC.
