Hyperaspis octavia in New Brunswick - Hyperaspis octavia
Moncton, Irishtown Nature Park, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada
May 9, 2009
Size: 2.5-3 mm
Two specimens of this species were taken today just after our workshop on lady beetles for Nature Moncton. It was a warm, humid afternoon (~20 C) with little wind and we searched around the Tankville school and swept the edge of the woods, as well as a small marshy clearing (less than an acre) about 200m from the school. That is where we found the Hyperaspis octavia. Also netted were Psyllobora vigintimaculata, Anisosticta bitriangularis, Coccinella septempunctata and Propylaea quatuordecimpunctata!
