This is a Camponotus but I do
This is a Camponotus but I don't know the species. Might be Camponotus nearcticus. They do nest in wood, and whatever species this turns out to be I can say it's Not one of the Carpenter ants that are known to cause lots of damage. I don't know exactly what the subfamily is but it really resembles one of the smaller Camponotus known for just making tiny colonies of 2,000 ants or so.
